Mary's on Davie: From Sassy Server to Boozy Shakes

If I can say one word to describe Vancouver is: diversity. Once I stepped into this city, I realized there were thousands of nationalities live here. From North America to South, Asia, Europe, and also Australia. I have so many friends that I've never had before. The level of acceptance is huge. It also applies the same with a lot of communities, one of them is LGBTQ2+.

Vancouver is home to the largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, gender diverse, queer, and Two-Spirit (LGBTQ2+) community in Western Canada. More: https://vancouver.ca/people-programs/lgbtq-community.aspx

There is an area called "West End" that located in the heart of Vancouver CBD that has a special appearance, yes, the rainbow road and here comes one of my favorite place to brunch: Mary's on Davie.

Home to the city’s LGBTQ community, the West End’s density is evenly matched by its diversity of residents, and by a strong commitment to creating an inclusive community that prioritizes affordable housing. More: https://greatplacesincanada.ca/gpic_places/west-end/

First of all, I want to encourage people to swallow their sensitive opinion before pointing to others and judge. In Canada, most of the people are so friendly and open-minded. They accept you as you are, even though maybe they don't always agree with your value - and that's totally fine. This community is nothing without love and acceptance - at the end of the day, we all want to be living in peace and love right :)
We can never judge other people, that is not our job, it is God's.

Anyway.

Me and Mathieu love this place so much, they have the cutest diner-style interior with a fancy retro touch. All of the servers are friendly and most of them are gay (and loved), super cute! One of them is Peter. He is such a sassy and adorable guy that also sings in his free time.

And we tried this Boozy Shakes, the most famous thing from Mary's on Davie. It's a mix of some alcohol drink with ice cream or milk or other yummy drink, blended together, and topped with whipped cream!! Who can resist right? Let's see by yourself this menu, tell me you want to try one too! :D

We tried the Crispy Crunch, it is so good! The great thing is it doesn't taste like alcohol at all, just milky and creamy. You should give it a go when you are in Vancouver!

Not forget to mention the food tho, all of them are so tasty. We've been here couple of times, usually after the Sunday Church, brunch is the best idea. We always changed our order so we get to try everything. They are so tasty and my favorite is the homemade biscuit that is so smooth, crispy, and yummy! Melted with butter, dip with some jam, OMG, can't describe more happiness in a plate! Thank you, Peter, to recommend this on our first visit!

You can browse their menu here: https://marysondavie.com/brunch

The price wasn't crazy and still affordable for people who appreciate homemade original food from North America. You know, something like eggs, bacon, potatoes, pancake, salad, fruit, milk, and coffee, tea, burger. Come to your table, served from a sassy lovely server that always gonna make you smile. I always want to be back here.

Because it's all worth the sass and shakes! :D

Till next time!
